1/1 All Good Things

Happy January!

THINGS HAPPENED

Moonlight Market happens at night, so I swung by on the early side to see all the vendors at the Cradle of Aviation, and it was overwhelming. Many many many local artists were selling their stuff. If you can make it to one and don’t mind going out in the dark, go for it. Also, I got to see Kenny Gordon’s film debut for Fantasy Kills, and I checked out some exhibits at the Nassau County Museum of Art, the Cooper Hewitt Museum, and the Museum of the City of New York. As always, my Fall semester came to a close right before the holidays, so half the month was a blur.

WELLNESS CORNER

Change is good. Starting January 6, I’ll be teaching Slow Flow at Sukha Studio at 7:15 PM. That’s a move from the early slot to the later slot, and a move from lots of extended chair and chaturanga pushups to no chair and no chaturanga pushups. Also, I may teach in my pajamas since the class ends at almost my bedtime (8:15—this is the time I say I’m awake and I’m half asleep wherever I may be).

As aforementioned, Meditate, Move, & Create returns online through the TLA network on January 7 at 7 PM EST.

Have you had your kitchari yet? If you don’t know what that is—it’s a mixture of mung beans, rice or riced cauliflower, in-season veggies, and a bunch of spices that all work together to make you feel all warm and cozy. If you want to know more about it or would like a recipe, drop me a line.

Also, I’ve got a wide open schedule for Reiki, meditation, yoga, and wellness endeavors throughout the month. Info here.

Finally, a yoga playlist comprised solely of monster ballads. You didn’t know you needed this, and now you know you did.

BOOKSHELF

Sidenote: Does anyone else need to solve puzzles before being able to sign into their Goodreads account? Is this happening on StoryGraph? Is this the year I make the switch?

I read a new favorite collection of poetry along with some dull poetry (Paterson). I also put a dent into a book about 80s hair bands as well as a book about 80s movies. I’ve clearly gone nostalgic (hence the monster ballads yoga playlist above, which I compiled before I started reading). Book club books are in the library request queue, and I’m ready to dive into a lot of reading this month.

MISCELLANY

I returned a bunch of library books, and somehow, one did not get scanned in, so I kept getting reminders to return the book, and then it became overdue, and I sent a panicked email about the situation to the library because I didn’t want to go to library jail, and they said it was fine because it would turn up eventually, and it did, but then I had a fine, and when I went to borrow another book, I had to explain the whole thing again, and then the librarian took off the 40 cent fine, and everything is right with the world again.

All good things,
Christina
