Wrap-up of your discussion of Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe
Happy Birthday, Kathy Bates and Mary Stuart Masterson! This is a book about friendship. It’s also about a lesbian couple but also not a lesbian couple. Either way, there’s a three-legged dog! This book is also about race and also gets a little racist. It’s of a time, and that time doesn’t hold up despite its good intentions. We wish it had a character tree because lots of characters show up across time.
Here’s Ann Hodges.
(Spoiler alert: I have a poem about her in my next collection, which is slated to be published next year.)
There’s a restaurant in Brooklyn that has Fried Green Tomatoes on the menu, but I can’t find it. Yelp gave me restaurants that have any of those three words on the menu and not necessarily in that order.
Quote of the Discussion

Other places where you can find me:
I’m subbing a bunch of yoga sculpt classes throughout July and still teaching yoga on Tuesdays at 7:15-8:15 at Sukha Studio—you can find all the dates on my calendar. I’m also writing on-the-spot poems at a private event this month that I’m pretty jazzed about, and if you want me to come to anything to type or write poems, drop me a line. It’s super fun!
Our Future Meetups
Everything is here.
Please, if you have book suggestions, send them my way. Yes, you can share this email and/or the links. Of course, invite whomever you wish to book club. No one needs to finish the book. Hope to see you at our future book chats. Bring your appetite for snacks, sips, and conversation.
