October ‘26 Sunday Funday Book Club Follow Up
Hey y’all,
We were a tiny but mighty group on Sunday at Stay Green.
Pairings
Pumpkin flavored things. Tis the season.
Our next Sunday Funday Book Club meetup is November 22 at 10-noon at Stay Green. We are reading Lady Tremaine by Rachel Hochhauser.
Side hustle read: “Cinderella” by Anne Sexton
Side hustle watch: Ever After (1998)
Wrap-up of your discussion of Black Hole:
It’s like Contagion meets a zombie movie. The black and white is sometimes hard to decipher in the night scenes. The book flap and the shaggy hair are helpful in figuring out the setting. It was a little confusing for some. And some of us read it a few years ago and kind of forgot to review it (me).
Vagina Dentata: “Toothy vagina” is a folk tale trope to warn people against intercourse.
Quote of the Discussion
“Everything begins and ends with holes.”
Game of the Month:
We played Seattle Grunge Band, Defunct 70s Magazine, or Blackhole Terminology!
Try it out yourself:
Green River
Teen Bag
Accretion Disk
Here's your soundtrack, in which I found out what “Pumped Up Kicks” is really about and had an existential crisis.
Reading Recs
Shameless plug: You can pre-order Women In Space!, my forthcoming collection out in January. Pre-orders come with stickers. If you don’t want it shipped, I’ll refund you the shipping. We will not read this at book club because it’s poetry, but you can read it on your own.
Also:
The Walking Dead
Henchgirl
Flight by Sherman Alexi
Watching Recs
Orphan Black
