Our next Sunday Funday Book Club meetup is October 26 from 10-noon at Great South Bay Brewery (Bay Shore). We are reading Before The Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi.
Your side hustle read: The Book of Tea by Kakuzo Okakura (You can wait until book club, and I’ll show it to y’all).
Your side hustle watch: Coffee Shop Names (2020) – it’s online in a bunch of places
ALSO: Coffee and tea swap!! Bring samples of your favorite coffees and teas to share!
Wrap-up of your discussion of Sex.Lies.Murder.Fame.:
In a word: unhinged. It’s completely ridiculous. Is it romance? Nope. Metafiction? Nope—yep, there’s a book mentioned within the book, but it’s not completely about the book in the book. Which, by the way, is entitled Book. That did not make for a confusing conversation at all. “Murder” is in the title, yet most of us were surprised when a murder happened.
As for our side hustle Get In My Swamp, Nikki enjoyed it profusely and stands behind her five star review.
We watched the trailer for Unfaithful and it’s got the same vibes without being unhinged.
Quote of the Discussion
“The raisin has been through enough.”
Game of the Month:
We played Kama Sutra, Yoga Pose, or 90s Music! I forgot the answer key and kept writing down points for everyone by accident if they got it wrong, so this was another everyone gets a prize instance, and the Grab Bag of Questionable Prizes did not disappoint! The end of this email has all the correct answers; I think I messed up two of them. But before you scroll, see if you can figure out the answers: Frosting the Beater? Cow Face? Impalement? By the way, Peacock falls into two categories. Wow.
Here's the soundtrack you created:
Here’s Megan Byron’s statement. It’s unconfirmed in this article. Whether or not she wrote it, she still needs to get to go to a Cold Play concert.
Good Mythical Morning is here.
Does Seinfeld at the Chinese restaurant hold up?
Reading Rec
The Address Book by Sophie Calle
Watching Rec
You (Netflix) – this is not the first time we’ve discussed this show, and I have a feeling it won’t be the last.
