August ‘25 Sunday Funday Book Club Follow Up

Hey y’all!

Thanks to everyone who came out to book club! This time around was more games than books, but we simply had to catch up from the game we missed last time. Unfortunately, this meant breaking the news that Gary Busey has gotten all handsy, which shouldn’t be a surprise and yet is a surprise. Actually, I’m surprised he’s still alive. Wait, he is alive, right? Anyway. Book club.

Pairings—Thank you, Nikki!

Succubus
Dr. Pepper (N/A)

Our next Sunday Funday Book Club meetup is September 28 from 10-noon at Great South Bay Brewery (Bay Shore). We are reading Sex.Lies.Murder.Fame. by Lolita Files.

Your side hustle read: Get In My Swamp by G. M. Fairy

Your side hustle watch: Unfaithful (2002)

Wrap-up of your discussion of I Was A Teenage Slasher:

It’s not YA but reads like one at times. The beginning is great. It drags towards the end. It’s better when you hear it in a southern drawl. The peanut butter seems to be his kryptonite. This kind of horror book actually made me feel icky as opposed to the last one we read, so slashers are where the gore is at.

Quote of the Discussion

It’s Holden Caufield meets Wes Craven, and I hate Catcher In The Rye.

Game of the Month

We played Surfer, Buddha, or Gary Busey to wrap up Saltwater Buddha. Congrats, Gina, on your big win!

Then we played Name That Slasher Movie, and everyone won because everyone answered all the questions even when it wasn’t their turn. Prizes to everyone from the Grab Bag of Questionable Prizes!

Here's the soundtrack you created [this is required listening, y’all! it might be my favorite soundtrack and also the most nonsensical when it takes a turn towards condiments]:

Our Future Meetups are here.

Please, if you have book suggestions, send them my way. Sure, you can share this and/or the links. Of course, invite whomever you wish to book club. No one needs to finish the book. Hope to see you at our future book chats. Bring your appetite for snacks, sips, and conversation.

All good things,
Christina
